It was a dance Tsunami by the shore. It thoroughly enthralled the gathered audiences. Marking the International Dance Day, Nataraj Music and Dance Academy, the only organization in Andhra Pradesh with UNESCO's International Dance Council Membership and ISO 9001-2008 certificate organised 'World Dance Day – 2017' on Saturday evening at RK Beach (opposite Viswapriya Function Hall). The festival under the supervision of festival director BR Vikram Kumar (Bathina Vikram Goud), a recipient of International Dance Excellency Award saw HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao present 'International Dance Day Awards' to dance teachers who came down from various parts of the country. Each and every dance performance organised on the occasion was brilliant. 'Swacha Bharath' Kuchipudi recital by NMDA Group - B. Tejasri, B. Bhagyasri, D. Padmini, Dr. Dedeepya and Tejaswi under the choreography of KV Lakshmi, Principal Nataraj Music and Dance Academy succeeded in delivering a social message.
Kashmira Trivedi and group from Mumbai and Thane under the able guidance of Guru Jayashree Nair presented 'Sruti-Laya', a 36-minute dance drama. It was a combination of Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniattam and Oddisi dance forms. The performance saw 20 dance teachers in performance. The dance drama opened with Malhari along with Maha Mrutyanjay Mantra Allaripu in the style of Bharatanatyam and then followed it up with Durga Devi Stuti in Kathak, Ganpati and Saraswati Stuti in Mohiniattam and concluded it with Shiva-Ashtkam with all the four dance forms. Bharatanatyam - Kashmira Trivedi, Girija Nair, Vrunda Upadhyay, Madhuri Prathap, Suhasini R. Padale, Varsha Raut; Kathak - Alakananda Mukherjee, Bhavana Lele, Pallavi Lele, Rimika Dhara, Siddhi Rane; Odissi - Sarmishtha Chattopadyay; Mohiniyattam - Chitra Warrier, Nidhi Pradeep Nair, Shreshta Venkatesh, Jahnavi Premkumar, Gauri S. Nadkarni.
Anil and Group from Kerala performed Kuchipudi with a background story of how Lord Shiva got the ornaments that were found on his body. Anil Vttikkattiri, Kalamandalam Roshin Chandran, Vineesh Chennankandav, Baburaj Idinhilavan, Vishnu Gudalur, Ajay Raj C T and Siddendra Vettikkattiri did a commendable job. Lavani dance by Dr. Bharath Jathvani and group from Nandhed performed Tamasha Lavani for 16 minutes and thoroughly entertained the gathering. The narration by Tejasri was an added flavour to the evening. The festive spirit among a large number of visitors to the beach was quite evident.
