World Dance Day Müster ‘13: Happy Birthday, Noverre
Dance Community Münster remembers the Ballett reformer
Jean George Noverre (1727 – 1810)
Also this year, the world dance day will be held in Münster in a spectacular
way: in a two day program on April 28th and 29th, the members of CIDUNESCO
Münster will remember the birthday of choreographer and founder of
modern ballet Jean George Noverre (1727-1810) with different events. His
“Letters about the Art of Dance” (1760) will build the frame for the many
different offers all around dance. This time the active members invite
everybody to join them in the Martiniviertel of Münster: in the small House of
the Theatre of Münster and for the “Night of Dance” in the St. Martini Church.
The comprehensive program starts on April 28th in the small House of the
Theater of Münster. Already in the afternoon the Theatre of Münster will offer
public workshops in its ballet studio, showing, among other things, that dance
is certainly not just a privilege of the Youth. After the ballet evening of the
dance school of CID-Member Eleonore Sattler (at 07.00 p.m.), the world dance
day will have its official opening (09.00 p.m.): Günther Rebel, president and
founder of the CID Section Münster, reads from the letters of the famous
dancer and choreographer, which are ranked among the most considerable
theoretic writings about ballet. Choreographies of the Münster Dance Theatre,
Dance projects Heidi Sievert and the Rebel Dance Company will accompany
these nightly encounters with dance.
These can then also be applied as an accommodation for a central night of
dance on the following world dance day (29th of April) itself, which will start at
09.00 p.m. in the St. Martini Church (YouthChurch effata!). Additional
ensembles and groups will present their Noverre-interpretations within the
unusual architecture of a medieval hall church. “Münster shall again this year,
be able to experience the variety of dance”, Günther Rebel invites everybody,
to look forward to this special and unordinary event.

Tanzräume überall in der Stadt entstehen lassen. Zum ersten Mal wird auch in Münster der Tag des Tanzes ausgerichtet. Dazu setzen wir Tanzimpulse: Selbst mittanzen in Workshops oder zuschauen, die ganze Bandbreite des Tanzes kann ausprobiert und angeschaut werden. Die Orte sind die Städtischen Bühnen (Neubrückenstraße 63, 48143 Münster), das Pumpenhaus (Ga-tenstr. 123, 48147 Münster) und die Tanzschule Rebeltanz (Germania Campus, An der Germania-Brauerei 3, 48159 Münster).
