WHAT IS DANCERSMEET |

DANCERSMEET has always been about connecting both artist and audience by attempting to create an environment that breaks down the 4th wall between artist and audience. The event comes at the end of a 2-month long journey of creation. In a DANCERSMEET event, the spotlight is put on the creative process behind the dance piece.

In a culture where dance, let alone art, is not yet well received or valued, The Creative Core BN works to spread knowledge about the arts by opening up the doors and allowing the public or audience "backstage access"; exposing the realities and wonders of the creation process of an Artform, in this case, in Dance.

THE EVENT |

In its 3rd year, DANCERSMEET aims to revisit the original concept of the project in its first year in 2015. With the intention of creating a wholesome experience for both the dancer and audience, we are adding a little twist to the creation process.

A choreographer from 2 dance crews will be swapping places, and Creating a piece on this new group of dancers. The idea behind this is to give the choreographers an opportunity to explore outside of their bound and limitations. Over time, creating a piece on a group of dancers that you are familiar with, in terms of their strengths and weaknesses (style and technique) can be awesome and very important, however, it may start to become easy and even limiting to a certain extent. By presenting the choreographer with dancers with a new or unfamiliar set of skills, personalities and creatives, we believe that there will be much to gain on both ends.

The Creative Core BN an in-house produced video of Behind-The-Scenes footage of the creation process, including rehearsals, interviews and more.

III) LET’S TALK: “When dancers speak”

A small panel of dancers will be gathered on stage to discuss and share about the current and potential future state of the dance industry in Brunei, and A genuine and real account of the local dance industry is what is hoped for in this short panel discussion. The objective is to spread the knowledge to both dancers and non-dancers in our community.

There will also be a special sharing session by Mdm. Regina Vallejos regarding the International Dance Day under the CID (Conseil International de la Danse); an introduction and information sharing session of CID.

IV) SPECIAL PERFORMANCE BY:

DANCEVERSITY DANCE CREW; a local university-formed dance group that is new to the scene. This will be their introduction to the existing dance community.
