Readiness and Sustainability in Times of Rapid Change

Saturday, April 29th
 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Moving Our Selves Intensives use the Laban Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) to investigate how we live in the world, and how our movement choices hinder or support the changes we seek. LBMS enables us to perceive, experience, and describe our own personal movement patterns. Our patterns influence how we negotiate boundaries and balance the needs of self and other. We will research the unique phrasing with which we organize our movement - how the parts of our movement fit into the whole of who we are.  By developing mini-profiles of our own movement patterns, we will shine a light on the relationship between our inner and outer worlds. We will creatively design ways to shift our own patterns to cultivate self-sustainability in support of readiness, embodied engagement, and action.

Moving Our Selves Intensives integrate theoretical and experiential aspects of the Laban Bartenieff Movement System. Please bring paper and pen and wear comfortable clothing.

We are thrilled to take our annual SHOWCASE to a whole new level by transforming it into an all day event featuring unique sets of performances at 3pm and at 7pm.  The Dance Parade Showcase has found a new home at Flamboyán Theater at The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center located at 107 Suffolk Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side.

We hope you will join us in our most exciting program yet!
- The Dance Parade Team
Attendees will be welcomed into the theater one hour prior to the start of each show to mix and mingle with fellow guests, the performers and the Dance Parade team of volunteers.  Snacks will be available along with a cash bar to quench your thirst.  The Showcase offers you a 'taste of Dance Parade' and kicks off a month prior to International Dance Day which is a celebration of dance and culture from all over the world, similar to the magical display of costumes, color and talent which makes its way down Broadway each May in our annual parade and festival on Saturday, May 17th.   Proceeds from this event will help aid in production costs for the parade and fesitval as well as help to fund our Community Engagement Program which brings the excitement and energy of dance to under-resourced schools and community centers across the five boroughs.  To learn more about The 8th Annual New York City Dance Parade and Festival please visit www.danceparade.org
