Gwent Sqaure moves to a different beat as Street-Fit come to town
CHILDREN from a Cwmbran dance school turned Gwent Square into a sea of colour during their performance on International Dance Day on Saturday.
For two hours at Cwmbran Shopping, around 100 children from Street-Fit displayed their skills to a host of classic tunes as well as modern songs too,
In addition to the children from the school, their parents showed off their dancing talents in a special routine organised for them.
Street-Fit dance teacher Amanda Ellis said: “It was great, the children all enjoyed dancing in front of their families and friends, while the crowd all seemed to enjoy themselves.
“The sun was shining and the children had great energy and smiles on their faces.
“Everybody who watched said how well the dancers performed, and a number of parents said they were interested in signing their children up to my group,” she added.
International Dance Day actually falls on April 29 annually, however the dance school organised their event the day after due to the participants being at school on the Friday.
The date was chosen by the International Dance Council as it falls on the birthday of the French dancer and ballet master Jean-Georges Noverre from the 1700s.
